    Battle Mountain General Hospital, in partnership with Lander County EMS and Lander County Community Health, will be hosting the John Peters Health Center open house May 30 at 11 a.m. Lander County EMS will also be celebrating EMS Week 2015. There will be a barbecue, freebies for the kids and adults, a ribbon cutting, an EMS Week dedication from Lander County commissioners, games and anybody can check out the new building. The Lander County Sheriff’s Office will be demonstrating their new seat belt enforcer. Come down and spend time with the local EMS and hospital personnel celebrating the new building and another year of service in Lander County.

    Alisha Flock, the Early Childhood Special Education teacher at Eliza Pierce Elementary School for the Lander County schools, will be conducting the annual Child Find screenings for the upcoming 2015-16 school year, May 28 — June 3. Child Find is a national project formed to locate, evaluate and provide services to children who may need special education services. She will be screening 2 and a half to 5-year-old children. Anyone concerned about his or her child’ development is urged to contact Flock at (775) 635-2349.

    CORVALLIS, Ore — Oregon State University will hold its 146th commencement on Saturday, June 13, beginning at 10:30 a.m. in Reser Stadium.
    Paradise Valley resident Glynnys D. Pentecoste will be among the graduates with a Bachelor’s in Science, Summa Cum Laude, Natural Resources.
    OSU is one of the few large universities in the nation to hand out students’ actual diplomas during the commencement ceremony.
