    On May 22 at 10 a.m., Battle Mountain’s VFW will be posting flags on the graves of veterans and on Memorial Day, May 25, at 10 a.m., the VFW will host a flag ceremony at the flag pole at the cemetery. They will take the old flag down and replace it with a new one.

    Attention community members: With the construction of the new Battle Mountain elementary school, Eliza Pierce Elementary School will be demolished. The EP building is no longer able to be brought up to current building codes so it must come down. It’s been a great school for many years to many individuals. Anyone who would like to take a tour through EP before it is demolished, can call the school at (775) 635-2349 and speak with Lorrie Sparks. Tours will given May 26 — June 4 from 4 p.m. — 5 p.m. The contents of EP will begin to be moved starting June 8. As of June 15, the school will be turned over to CORE Construction which will begin the abatement process with demolition closely following.

    The talent show will be held May 27, at 2 p.m. at the BMJH gym. It will feature singing, dancing, art, poetry and much more! Winner performs at the eighth grade graduation.

    The Winnemucca Convention and Visitors Authority will meet Wednesday at 4 p.m. in the west hall of the Winnemucca Convention Center. The agenda includes presentation of the FY 2014 audit report and possible acceptance. Public comment will be accepted on WCVA’s FY 2015-2016 tentative budget — before the board considers acceptance of the final budget.
