The Humboldt County Chamber of Commerce invites employers to treat their support staff to a special lunch on Wednesday, April 24, in the East Hall of the Convention Center.
Employers are encouraged to RSVP now to reserve space for their staff. For $16 per person attendees will enjoy a tasty lunch catered by Third Street Bistro, some fun entertainment and a lovely little flower to take back to work with them.
Administrative Professionals Day started in 1952 - when it was called National Secretaries Day. It was soon enlarged to encompass an entire week, then renamed to Professional Secretaries Week in 1981.
In 2000, the observance was renamed again to Administrative Professionals Week to encompass the wide responsibilities and job titles of office staff.
Today, Administrative Professionals Week is one of the largest workplace observances. Many employers treat their staff to lunch, give flowers or small gifts or sometimes allow paid time off.
In Winnemucca, the chamber has been taking the lead on this holiday and has hosted their Administrative Professionals luncheon for several years. The event is a great way to show gratitude to your staff, Chamber director Debbie Stone says.
The luncheon will begin promptly at noon on Wednesday and will wrap up at 1 p.m. or shortly after. For more information or to reserve space for your staff, call the chamber office at 623-2225.
