Kasey Lau was one of 159 students named to the 2013 Fall Dean's List at the University of Nevada, Reno's College of Agriculture, Biotechnology and Natural Resources. He is the grandson of Lovelock residents John and Sandy Pope and son of former Lovelock resident and Pershing County High School graduate Kimberly (Pope) Salkowski.

Lau is in his freshman year at UNR. He is majoring in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. He hopes to put his degree to use in the medical field. He said his goal is, "to become a Nevada physician and bring back excellent health care to our local communities."

To be considered for the Dean's List at UNR a student must have a declared major, complete 12 course units and earn a 3.75 gpa or higher for the semester.

"I commend Kasey for his dedication to academic excellence. On behalf of the CABNR faculty, we are proud of the example of high standards and achievement that he has set for himself and our College," CABNR Dean Ronald Pardini said in a written statement.
