Children turning 5 years old by Sept. 30, 2013, will need to be screened before they can enroll in school in Lander County. Screening dates are May 30 to June 5. If you have not already done so, please contact the school to set up an appointment. Proof of birth and a current immunization record will be required at the time of the screening. If you have questions or would like to set up an appointment, please contact the Eliza Pierce office at 635-2349.
Proof of immunization is required for all children entering school in Lander County. Immunizations must be up to date, or in progress at the time of enrollment. Students may not be placed on a class list until all documentation has been received. Updated immunization records must be submitted before school begins, if students receive additional immunizations over the summer.
All students requiring medication that will be dispensed by the school nurse must have an updated prescription and signed permission form for the 2012-2013 school year. This must be done annually even if the student was enrolled in Lander County during the previous school year. If you have questions regarding immunizations, new student screening, or medication, please contact school nurse Paula Green RN at 635-2349.
ELES Summer School Schedule
Eleanor Lemaire will begin its summer session, a six-week program for students in grades fourth through sixth, on June 10. School will be in session from 8 a.m. until 11 a.m. daily and ends Aug. 1. School runs for three hours every day Monday through Thursday at Eleanor Lemaire Elementary School.
In addition, the summer library hours to check out books and take AR tests will begin June 24 and be open every Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. until the end of July.
This year, students will participate in reading, mathematics and enrichment activities. We strongly urge any student interested in gaining new skills to take advantage of this opportunity to enrich your education. The extra instruction that students receive during the summer intervention program will help fill in the gaps in learning, reinforce important skills and better prepare them for the next school year. Many of the students who attended last summer made tremendous gains in their reading comprehension and mathematics skills.
The summer school application can be filled out when you attend the class.
