Foster homes needed

The Sixth Judicial Youth and Family Services and the Division of Child and Family Services is having an open house orientation for those interested in fostering and/or adopting children in the Battle Mountain area. It will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 9, from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. at the Battle Mountain Juvenile Probation Department located at 190 W. Third St., Battle Mountain. 4-H Open House

4-H will be having their open house on Oct. 12 starting at 10 a.m. We will be showing off our new livestock facility that will be available to all youth in town who would like to raise an animal for livestock. There will also be events for the whole family with prizes of all ranges. We will be having an concessions and our leaders will have this year's projects on display. Come talk to our Lego leader's about our "Tribute to Mining" project that we are starting up. Take a look at what's inside our shooting sports trailer. Jacob's Well holding quilt raffle

The youth center is holding a raffle to raise money for movie equipment. They are raffling off a beautiful handmade quilt that was donated by a local quilter (and great friend!) Betty Thompson. The quilt is on display at Jacob's Well. Tickets will be sold until Oct. 31. Buy one ticket for a dollar or six for $5.

BMHS Homecoming

Homecoming for Battle Mountain High School will be Oct. 7 - 12. The theme is Level Up to the Longhorns and it is based on video games. The following is a schedule of events. For the rest of the week, activities include: Thursday, Oct. 10 - Vanities at 7:30 p.m. at the Civic Center with the bonfire to follow; Friday, Oct. 11 - Parade at noon, football at 7 p.m. against Yerington; Saturday, Oct. 12 - dance at high school from 8:30 p.m. - 11:30 p.m.

First Baptist Church offers Services

The First Baptist Church would like to announce services and reach out to families and the youth of our community. Craft Show at the Cookhouse Museum

4-H fair project sheets need to be signed

All 4-H youth who plan to put static entries (projects) in the Lander County Fair must bring them to the 4-H office to have their project sheets signed. Please call your 4-H/Youth Coordinator Tonya McKenzie at (775) 635-5565 or stop by the extension office.

The Gospel Project Bible study

The Fellowship Baptist Mission began a new Bible study last month and will continue every Sunday at 9:45 a.m. The Gospel Project is a three-year study from Genesis through Revelation. The study teaches how the Gospel is reflected throughout the whole Bible. There are classes for all ages, from birth to adult. For more information, contact Bob at (775) 635-3470.
