Pastor Judith Donaldson celebrates 40 years in the ministry
Pastor Judith Donaldson will celebrate 40 years of being in the ordained ministry on Oct. 21. To celebrate this happy occasion, she is inviting everyone to an open house on Oct. 19 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at her home in Carlin, Nev., at 322 West Bush St. Please come and bring your happy selves, good words and good wishes. Lander County Historical Society needs your ideas
The Historical Society is asking for the community's help in choosing or generating a title for a book that will focused solely on the history of Battle Mountain. The book will be written by Dana Bennett and will be published by the Lander County Historical Society. They are also seeking photos to be used in the book of significant events, buildings and/or people. The book will cover the years approximately from the 1870s to the present.
Please help choose a title from the following or generate your own: "Battle Mountain: Little Town in the Heart of Nevada;" "Battle Mountain: Little Town with a Big Heart;" or "All roads lead to Battle Mountain." The deadline is the end of October for the title and the end of November for photos. Make sure each photo has your name and phone number printed on the back. Jacob's Well holding quilt raffle
The youth center is holding a raffle to raise money for movie equipment. The center is raffling off a beautiful handmade quilt that was donated by a local quilter (and great friend!) Betty Thompson. The quilt is on display at Jacob's Well. Tickets will be sold until Oct. 31. Buy one ticket for $1 or six for $5.
First Baptist Church offers Services
The First Baptist Church would like to announce services and reach out to families and the youth of our community. Sunday services began at 10:45 a.m. and Sunday school begins at 9:30 a.m. Youth group will be held from 6 - 9 p.m. All are welcome! First Baptist Church is located on the corner of 7th and Weaver. Craft show coming to the Cookhouse Museum
The craft show will be held Nov. 1-2 at the Cookhouse Museum. It will be open 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 1, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 2. Vendors are needed with handmade items only! Contact Salle at 635-2450, Coxie at 635-2582 or the Cookhouse Museum at 635-8584.
4-H fair project sheets need to be signed
All 4-H youth who plan to put static entries (projects) in the Lander County Fair must bring them to the 4-H office to have their project sheets signed. Please call your 4-H/Youth Coordinator Tonya McKenzie at (775) 635-5565 or stop by the extension office with any questions.

The Gospel Project Bible study
The Fellowship Baptist Mission began a new Bible study last month and will continue every Sunday at 9:45 a.m. The Gospel Project is a three-year study from Genesis through Revelation. The study teaches how the Gospel is reflected throughout the whole Bible. There are classes for all ages, from birth to adult. For more information, contact Bob at (775) 635-3470.
