Gentle Sole Shoe Drive
This event is sponsored by Jacob's Well Youth Center. The group is accepting monetary donations that will be used to purchase shoe store gift cards. Contact Ruby Bryant or stop by the youth center between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. Monday, Tuesday or Thursday evenings.
They are also accepting new or gently-used shoes for junior and senior high age. The well in front of the youth center will serve as a drop-off box. Be sure to put shoes in a plastic bag before dropping in the well. The group will be collecting shoes through the month of August.
BMJHS searching for coaches
Battle Mountain Junior High is seeking applicants for the following positions, girls basketball coach, boys basketball coach, volleyball coach and track coach. Lemaire Back to School Night
ELES Back to School Open House Night will be held Thursday, Aug. 21 from 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. Please come, meet your new teacher and see your classroom. Please remember to sign in when you visit your classroom. You may pick up your registration packet from your teacher at this event. If you can't make it to our open house, all information and packets will be handed out to those students who need one on the first day of school.
Meet the Teacher Night
Eliza Pierce Elementary School will be holding its open house Thursday, Aug. 21, from 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. All parents are urged to attend. Letters notifying parents of class placements will not be mailed out this year, but will be announced at the open house. First day packets will be given out at this time, including information on breakfast/lunch and other important procedures. Please plan to attend this very important event.
MAP testing at BMJHS
All incoming seventh and eighth grade students at BMJHS are invited to come to the school any day, Monday-Thursday from 8 a.m. - 3 p.m., beginning Aug. 1, to complete your start of the year MAP testing. Complete testing could take up to a couple of hours, so you are welcome to split it up over a couple of days if you like. Hope to see you soon.
Notary Training Session
There will be a Notary Training Session on Sept. 4 from 5 p.m. - 9 p.m. at the High Desert Inn, 3015 E. Idaho Street in Elko. Check-in begins at 4 p.m. Class is limited to 100; registration fee is $45. Christ Lutheran Preschool registration
Christ Lutheran Preschool, located at 55 Bastian Road (across from the BLM), is now taking registration for the 2014-2015 school year. Registration packets are available in the church office Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. For registration information, call Gail at 635-2290.
