New conservation specialist in Elko

CARSON CITY - Doneita "Doni" Bruland has been hired as a conservation specialist for the State Conservation Districts Program.
Based in Elko, Bruland will work directly with the eight Conservation Districts in Elko County, as well as others in the area. She will be involved with county and local governments, state and federal agencies, the Nevada Association of Conservation Districts and the USDA Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS).
Bruland will coordinate local activities with the Conservation Districts program coordinator and with the Sagebrush Ecosystem Technical Team in Carson City.
She brings a wealth of experience to this new position. Most recently, she was with the Oregon Department of Agriculture where she worked with invasive weed issues.
Previously, Bruland managed the Baker County Association of Conservation Districts in Baker City, Ore., where she coordinated activities and meetings and developed new projects based on landowner interests and conservation needs.
She also wrote and managed numerous grants for conservation projects which included technical and financial assistance, and was involved in numerous range projects, spring development and irrigation activities and wildfire reseeding programs.
Bruland's office is located within the USDA NRCS office at 555 W. Silver St. in Elko.
