LOVELOCK - The Pershing County Senior Center will close after lunch on April 12 for the remodeling of the center's kitchen.

"I apologize for the time we will not be able to serve lunch. I am working to find dining options for you at local eateries," said the center's director Barbara Tobin in the seniors' newsletter.

Tobin estimates that the center's kitchen will be closed for about three weeks. Look for reopening announcements in the Lovelock Review-Miner.

During this downtime many senior services will still be available. The resistance training exercise class still meets Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 9 a.m. in the main hall; the computer is still available and the senior center van is still available for local and monthly trips.

Call the center at 273-2291 before 10 a.m. to schedule local trips.

This month the van is scheduled to go to Reno on April 23. In May, the van will travel to Fallon on May 15 and to Reno on May 28. The van will also be traveling to the dinner and show at the El Dorado on May 16. Contact the center for more information if you haven't already secured your tickets.

Tobin encourages seniors to continue to eat a healthy balance diet while the kitchen is closed. Seniors unable to maintain a healthy diet should contact Tobin at the center to be put on the homebound list while the kitchen is being remodeled.

The senior advocate will still be available to help with Medicare, Medicaid and energy assistance during this time.
