Zion Zone summer program
Zion Zone FREE Summer Program is open Monday- Friday 12:30 - 5:30 p.m. Zion Zone provides a staffed, structured environment for discovery, teaching, and encouragement of positive social behaviors for all youth ages 9-16 years of age. Join us for fun throughout the summer, youth devotion, arts and crafts, movies, bowling, swimming, library, camping, and much more plus making new friends. FCAA Summer Food Service Program
The Summer Food Service program is held at Vesco City Park at 11 a.m. The Frontier Community Action Agency will be serving lunches to kids up to age 18 every Monday - Friday through Aug. 16. WDVS Advocate Training
9 a.m.- 5 p.m. Advocate Training- WDVS is looking for on-call advocates to add to our team. WDVS operates a 24/7 advocate line. Volunteers help to answer and direct calls from the comfort of their home. All time spent with clients is paid. To become an advocate you must complete WDVS approved training. Free Blood Pressure Clinic

Free Sports Physicals
1 p.m. to 6 p.m. - HGH will offer free sports physicals to all Lowry High School, McDermitt High School, Winnemucca Junior High School and Humboldt County youth sports organization athletes who will participate in school-sanctioned or community sports and/or other activities/organizations such as scouting. Youth may stop by anytime between 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. on the main floor of Humboldt General Hospital's new medical office building. Students will be served on a first-come, first-served basis; no appointments will be scheduled. Last check-in time is 5 p.m. Free physicals will only be offered during the physical exam clinic and will not be available free of charge from HGH providers following the event. Farmers Market temporary move
The Winnemucca Farmers Market will move for the Aug. 1 sale only to Nature's Corner, 330 W. Winnemucc Blvd., due to other events happening on Nixon Lawn. The sale will return to Nixon Lawn for future sales, which continue each Thursday through October.
Parking lot sale
9 a.m. - 1 p.m. - Winnemucca's United Methodist Women Present the Umpteenth Annual Parking Lot Sale at the church, 138 W. The Winnemucca Seventh-Day Adventist Church invites children to Kingdom Rock: Where Kids Stand Strong for God. Kids ages 5-12 years will meet 9 a.m. - noon Wednesday, Aug. 7 - Tuesday, Aug. 20. Each day at 11:30 a.m., activities conclude with a Fanfare Finale, when parents and family members are invited to join the kids to celebrate what they've learned. Zion Zone Youth Center
3 p.m. - 6 p.m. weekdays - Zion Zone Youth Center is a free, non-profit, after school and summer program for the community youth. We provide a quality recreational enrichment program for youth ages 9 to 16 years old that need a safe, supervised environment after school and during the summer. Zion Zone Kids operates according to the Humboldt County School District schedule. Daily devotion and positive action lessons on why we don't smoke, drink alcohol or use any illicit drugs. Snacks, crafts and organized group games are provided in the afternoons and homework assistance is available during the educational period. Volunteer for RSVP
RSVP - Serving Humboldt County Seniors with free help so they can remain independent and secure in their homes. The free help includes transportation, shopping for and running errands, phone tree, home companion visits, respite, exercise programs and more. Call Brian Nelson at 304-0757 to sign up for help/or for information to become a volunteer with reimbursed mileage. Ask about our paid respite volunteer program.
When caregivers need a "personal time" break from their loved ones, a Respite Care Worker can fill in for them. Caregiving can be exhausting, not allowing the caregiver to go to the doctor, visit a friend, doing some personal shopping or even go in the other room to kick back. Respite care can help. The service is free and our workers have security clearance and have been trained. RSVP workers can provide transportation and in-home companionship. They do not provide other homekeeping or health services. If you'd like to make use of our service, or learn more about it, call our RSVP Field Representative Brian Nelson at 304-0757. Respite is a service of Retired Senior Volunteer Program - RSVP.

Local Special Olympics chapter
A chapter of Special Olympics for children ages 8 - 22 is now available in Winnemucca. The group bowls in the fall school year and then will be doing track in the spring. Your athlete may choose to compete in one or all of the sports available. You do not need to be a student in the Humboldt County School District to participate. Friends of Nevada Wilderness
Friends of Nevada Wilderness is a non-profit organization that has been protecting and preserving wild lands in Nevada for 27 years through stewardship projects. We need volunteers this field season in the Santa Rosa Ranger District! Join our efforts at www.nevadawilderness.org.

ESL classes at GBC
Free adult English as a Second Language classes are currently being offered at the Great Basin College Adult Learning Center, 5490 Kluncy Canyon Road, Winnemucca. Classes cover speaking, writing and speaking for all levels, as well as basic computers for beginners. Students can also learn about the U.S. government. Hours of operation are 8:30 a.m. to noon Monday through Thursday and again from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday through Wednesday. Friends of Nevada Wilderness Range Allotment Monitoring: Northern Nevada
Spend time this summer hiking in the beautiful Santa Rosa Mountain Range. This gorgeous range, located 30 miles north of Winnemucca holds rugged granitic rock formations, abundant spring wildflowers, and wide, sweeping basins above pockets of aspen. Range monitors hike into and around the wilderness area and monitor the condition of range developments such as, water troughs, fence and any other man made developments. Fallon Naval Sea Cadets
Fallon Naval Sea Cadets is a non-profit youth program designed to educate youth from ages 11-17 about the Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard. Education includes military bearing, marching, physical training, courtesy, responsibility, and much more. Many opportunities are available for advanced training. Meetings are one weekend a month at the Naval Air Station in Fallon. Volunteers, both ex-military and civilian are needed for instructors and chaperones. Free resistance exercise class
Each Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 10 a.m. a resistance exercise class is held at the Humboldt County Senior Center. Resistance exercise is a program designed for seniors proven to increase balance and strength using weights. There is no beginning or advanced level. All equipment including the weights is provided. Come join our group for a fun and healthy hour of toning and strengthening. Sponsored by the Pleasant Center and RSVP.
1st Way Pregnancy Center
1st Way Pregnancy Center is located in the 3R Building at 630 Melarkey St. Free pregnancy tests, prenatal vitamins, confidential counseling and community referrals. Information on fetal alcohol spectrum disorder and smoking cessation programs. If you think you are pregnant, please do not use any alcohol or tobacco products. Staffed by dedicated volunteers.
