Group seeks 2nd Infantry members

Adopt a Senior in May

May is Older Americans Month. Adopt a Senior at the Pershing County Senior Center 630 Western Ave. The Adopt a Senior program is a great way to show you care. A donation of  $2.50 per meal will provide a special person a hot nutritious meal or you can donate a month's worth of meals for $50. Contact the Senior Center 273-2291 for more information.  Meals for older adults (age 60+) are provided at no cost to the individual, your donation helps to offset the cost of the meals.

Rifle Range cleanup day

The Pershing County Rifle Range will be closed Saturday for a work day. Pershing County Chukars Unlimited will repair all the target stands and also will be adding a 500 yard target. The rifle range has some normal wearing out of the targets, but also vandalism is a continuing problem. PCCU is offering a $500 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of anyone vandalizing the facility. The cleanup starts at 7 a.m. and PCCU will provide snacks and dinner upon completion of work. Anyone wishing to help contact Dan Hill at 335-5503 so we can get a head count for food and drinks. Alert Today - Alive Tomorrow

On Tues., May 21st the Pershing County Safety Director and Frontier Community Coalition will be sponsoring the Alert Today-Alive Tomorrow event. This distracted driving prevention event will be held in the Pershing County High School gymnasiums. The event is free and will be open to the public at 2:15 p.m. A guest speaker from the National Safety Council will be featured. Free child safety seat inspection and installation services, Fatal Vision program, DUI driving simulator and other activities and information will be offered. Alumni Association meeting

The next P.C.H.S.A.A. meeting will be Wednesday, May 22 at 5:15 p.m. at 400 Irish American Road.  This is a date change from May 29.  Check out and stay in touch this organization's new web page.  Alumni Banquet and Ball is Saturday June 8th.  P.C.H.S. seniors are the guests of honor.

Beverage Server Training

10 a.m. - noon - A free Responsible Beverage Server Training class will be held at the FCC office at 1475 Cornell Ave., Ste. 500. The training is free for sellers and/or servers of alcoholic beverages and is funded in part by the state Substance Abuse and Prevention Treatment Agency (SAPTA) and Enforcing Underage Drinking Laws (EUDL). Pershing County Library

Church of the Good Shepherd Food Bank

The Church of the Good Shepherd Food Bank currently has donated food available for those in need. Pastor D.W. Hutson asks that you call ahead to pick up the items from the church, located at 16500 state Route 400 in Unionville. The church accepts food and clothing donations to give away to those in need. Food bank

Lovelock Community Food Bank is serving at 655 Cornell starting at 3:30 p.m. and will close at the discretion of the Food Bank. Everyone can receive free bread and dairy products, but a voucher will be needed in order to receive food. This can be obtained at the county clerk's office.

Lovelock Speedway meeting

November - March, general meetings are held every other Thursday at 6 p.m. April - October general meetings held the Thursday prior to each scheduled race. Lovelock Speedway is seeking volunteers for various positions. Each Friday - Classes formally at Creekside Variety are now being held in the Community Center across from the hospital.
