Buy an ad on the Lovelock Community Calendar

The Lovelock Frontier Days Committee has taken over the local community calendar with donations raised going to student scholarships. Ads will be taken during July through Frontier Days. List family members' birthdays, anniversaries and memorial dates.Calendars will be available in early December so you can give them as Christmas presents. Summer Reading Program underway

The Summer Reading Program is a free six week program held on Mondays at the Pershing County Library. Each one hour session will include a craft project, incentives and a snack. The theme this year is Dig into Reading. The Summer Reading Program is designed for independent readers ages 7 and older to encourage leisure reading during the summer months. One Woman Art Show

Come experience the painting and sculptures of Oreana artist Carolyn Baker. Her works will be on display at the Star Peak Art Retreat in Imlay from July 5-28, closed on Mondays, There will be an opening party on July 14 from 2 - 6 p.m. Star Peak Art Retreat is located on the east side of I-80 at the highway off-ramps.



July 4

Kiddie Parade

"American Dreams" is the theme for this year's 4th of July Kiddie Parade sponsored by the Pershing County Cattlewomen. The parade is open to all children 12 years old and under. All participants please meet to register for the parade at the Lovelock Depot on Thursday, July 4th at 9:40 a.m. The parade will begin at 10 a.m.  Please, nothing bigger than a "child's red wagon" or a small bike will be allowed in the parade.  No live animals are allowed in the parade, for example, no cats, dogs, or ponies. Veterans Outreach

A  Rural Veterans Service Officer (RVSO)  will be in Lovelock July 11 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m at the Pershing County Community Center. Veterans, military personnel and family members will be able to meet with a representative of the Nevada Office of Veterans Services (NOVS) to learn about benefits and services they may be eligible for but unaware of. Appointments are encouraged, as many outreach events have been filling up.  Walk-in appointments are welcome, but will be seen if time permits. To schedule an advanced appointment, contact Pamela (775) 688-1653 ext. 6.   Veterans are advised to bring a copy of their DD-214 discharge document and/or current VA paperwork.   If the claim involves dependents, bring birth certificates, current and prior marriage certificates, divorce decrees, and social security numbers.

Imlay Volunteer Fire Department Street Dance

Noon to 10 p.m. - This is a fundraiser for the IVFD. Daytime activities-Horseshoe Tournament, Dunk tank, Kids games, Kiddie pools, Bingo, Karaoke, Bake sale. Evening activities start at 6p.m. dancing to the Hired Gunnz band, auction, raffle for quarter side of beef. Hamburgers and hot dogs and cold refreshments will be sold.

Lovelock Community Food Bank is serving at 655 Cornell starting at 3:30 p.m. and will close at the discretion of the Food Bank. Everyone can receive free bread and dairy products, but a voucher will be needed in order to receive food. This can be obtained at the county clerk's office.

Lovelock Speedway meeting

November - March, general meetings are held every other Thursday at 6 p.m. April - October general meetings held the Thursday prior to each scheduled race. Lovelock Speedway is seeking volunteers for various positions.
