The Lovelock Frontier Days Committee has taken over the local community calendar with donations raised going to student scholarships. Ads will be taken during July through Frontier Days. List family members' birthdays, anniversaries and memorial dates.Calendars will be available in early December so you can give them as Christmas presents. Summer Reading Program underway

The Summer Reading Program is a free six week program held on Mondays at the Pershing County Library. Each one hour session will include a craft project, incentives and a snack. The theme this year is Dig into Reading. The Summer Reading Program is designed for independent readers ages 7 and older to encourage leisure reading during the summer months. Night Fun Shoot

The Flying Saucer Trap Club will be hosting a series of "Summer Night League Shoots" at the trapshooting range located at 1550 Airport Rd. Lovelock. Registration and practice begins at 5:30 p.m. followed by meat shoots at 6 p.m. and then a "Blind Draw Buddy Shoot" will begin after sunset to wrap up the evening. Everyone is invited, so come out for some fun competition between friends. For more information contact Mike Schottel at 273-0206.

Pershing County 4-H Family Fun Day at 4-H Camp

4-H families and friends are invited to a day of fun and celebration at the 4-H Camp at Lake Tahoe.  Good visiting and good food!  Fun activities, with swimming from 1-5 p.m. - or bring your lawn chair and just relax.  This is also Marianne's retirement party. Sunday Aug. 11 at the 4-H Camp Lake Tahoe from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.  Fees: Adults - $20, 6-18 year olds - $12 and children under 6 are free. Pershing County Business Resource Center

The Pershing County Business Resource Center is now open. It is located at the Pershing County Community Center, Star Room, 820 6thStreet, Lovelock, NV 89419.  The center has 4 computers for free use by persons ages 17 and older for business, job, and educational purposes.  The Star Room is also used as a classroom, so a calendar of availability can be found at www.pershingcounty.net.  Hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday - Friday.  Call 273-7144 for more information.

PGH needs volunteers

The Pershing General Hospital Nursing Home is in need of volunteers to spend time with nursing home residents, one on one visits and group activities. We also need donations of dollar store items for our Bingo Store. They win gold coins during bingo and bi monthly we set up a bingo store in the facility and let them shop. The Church of the Good Shepherd Food Bank currently has donated food available for those in need. Pastor D.W. Hutson asks that you call ahead to pick up the items from the church, located at 16500 state Route 400 in Unionville. The church accepts food and clothing donations to give away to those in need. Lovelock Speedway meeting

November - March, general meetings are held every other Thursday at 6 p.m. April - October general meetings held the Thursday prior to each scheduled race. Lovelock Speedway is seeking volunteers for various positions. Each Friday - Classes formally at Creekside Variety are now being held in the Community Center across from the hospital.
