Halloween Concert

Wear and costume and come to PCHS Auditorium for a concert featuring the PCHS Drama Club, the Symphonic Band, PCHS Choir and the PCMS Choir. Doors open at 6:45 and the concert begins at 7 p.m.

Trunk or Treat

5 - 7 p.m. - Sonoma Baptist Church on the corner of Muddy and Grass Valley road is having its second annual Trunk or Treat for a Safe Halloween for the kids on Halloween from 5 - 7 p.m. Please put on your costume and come join us for fun and lots of treats for everyone!

Spaghetti Feed

Lone Mountain Cemetery Dedication

The dedication of the Lone Mountain Cemetery Public Memorial Wall will take place Nov. 11 (Veteran's Day) at the Lone Mountain Cemetery at11 a.m. Plaques for the wall can be ordered from the cemetery board by calling 273-2127; 273-3824 or 273-7468. Memorial Wall plaques are open to anyone regardless of military status, Pershing County residency, sex, race or religion. Join us for the dedication of the Memorial Wall for more information.

Nominate a Frontier Days theme

The Lovelock Frontier Days Committee is holding a theme contest for the 2014 Frontier Days. Next year marks our 46th annual Frontier Days Celebration. What do you think our theme should be? Write it down with some ideas on how to implement the theme; submit it to the Pershing County Chamber of Commerce in the Lovelock Depot building or submit it on the Lovelock Frontier Days Facebook page by Nov. 4. The creator of the winning theme will ride on the Frontier Days Committee's parade float, get a t-shirt and hat with their theme on it and get tickets to the annual 4-H BBQ at Frontier Days. Pershing County Library

The Pershing County Library is open Monday and Tuesday from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.; Wednesday from 9 a.m. - 8 p.m.; Thursday from 10 a.m. - 8 p.m. and Friday from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Story hour Tuesdays with preschoolers (older than 3) from 10 a.m. - 10:45 a.m. The library is located at 1125 Central Ave. For more information call 273-2216.

Animal control

Lovelock Animal Control Officer Sheri Crim can be reached at 273-PAWS (273-7297) at the animal shelter or on her cell phone at 770-0933. For animal calls after business hours, Crim asks residents to please call the Pershing County Sheriff's Department at 273-2641.

Church of the Good Shepherd Food Bank

The Church of the Good Shepherd Food Bank currently has donated food available for those in need. Pastor D.W. Hutson asks that you call ahead to pick up the items from the church, located at 16500 state Route 400 in Unionville. The church accepts food and clothing donations to give away to those in need. Sunday services at 11:30 a.m. No charge for wedding services or funeral services regardless of membership. For more information call (775) 538-7570.

Daily Mass at St. John the Baptist Church

Daily masses are held at St. John the Baptist Church on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday in the Father Vieages Room in the Annex.

Food bank

Lovelock Community Food Bank is serving at 655 Cornell starting at 3:30 p.m. and will close at the discretion of the Food Bank. Everyone can receive free bread and dairy products, but a voucher will be needed in order to receive food. This can be obtained at the county clerk's office.

Senior Center

Third Thursday, lunchtime - The Senior Center celebrates senior birthdays. Call 273-2291 for more information.

American Legion and American Legion Riders

Free craft classes for kids

Each Friday - Classes formally at Creekside Variety are now being held in the Community Center across from the hospital. Fridays, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Free sewing and craft classes for kids ages 6 and up. Sewing machines and materials are free as are the classes. For information call the Community Center at 273-7144.

Pershing County Library presents Story Hour every Tuesday from 10 a.m. - 11 a.m. starting on Sept. 10. Children's interest in reading will be nurtured by listening to books being read and activities with music and games. Children must be at least three years old to participate.

The Street Fever Car Club meets every other Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Temptations.
