Halloween Concert

Wear a costume and come to PCHS Auditorium for a concert featuring the PCHS Drama Club, the Symphonic Band, PCHS Choir and the PCMS Choir. Doors open at 6:45 and the concert begins at 7 p.m.

Trunk or Treat

5 - 7 p.m. - Sonoma Baptist Church on the corner of Muddy and Grass Valley road is having its second annual Trunk or Treat for a Safe Halloween for the kids on Halloween from 5 - 7 p.m. Please put on your costume and come join us for fun and lots of treats for everyone!


PCHS is sponsoring a "spooktackular" Halloween night, Thursday, Oct. 31 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. - open to the public featuring:

1.) A Haunted House - recommend ages 4th grade and up. Cost is $3 for each entry.

2.) A"Trick O Treat" path with candy and games for preK- 3rd graders only. Cost is $2.00 for each entry.

Students are admitted free one time through to either "spook" when they turn in their PCSD Parent Survey at the door or to their classroom teachers (LES). Lists will be at the entrance for verification. Entry to both events is located at the North entrance by the New gym.

Afterward, the Haunted house will be available only to PCHS students from 8:45-9:30PM in which students will exit into the Zombie Dance from 8:45-11:45 p.m. Cost for both dance and haunted house is $7 or $5 with survey; for dance only is $5 or $3 with survey. Costume is optional - rules have been posted throughout school building for what is expected and what is appropriate. Come and join the fun!

Veterans ROVER

The Nevada Department of Veterans Services (NDVS) Veterans Outreach "ROVER" Program will visit Lovelock Thursday, Nov. 7 from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. at the Pershing County Community Center so veterans and family members will be able to meet with a Veterans Service Officer (VSO) to learn about benefits and services they may be eligible for but unaware of. Veterans are advised to bring a copy of their DD-214 discharge document, current VA paperwork, medical information and banking account information. If the claim involves dependents, bring birth certificates, current and prior marriage certificates, divorce decrees, and social security numbers.

Boy Scout Food Drive

The annual Boy Scout Food Drive needs your support! Leave non-perishable food items in a plastic or paper bag outside your door for pickup by the local Cub and Boy Scouts. All donated food will be delivered to local food banks. "4-H A New Season" Dinner scheduled for November 13. Lone Mountain Cemetery Dedication

The dedication of the Lone Mountain Cemetery Public Memorial Wall will take place Nov. 11 (Veteran's Day) at the Lone Mountain Cemetery at11 a.m. Plaques for the wall can be ordered from the cemetery board by calling 273-2127; 273-3824 or 273-7468. Memorial Wall plaques are open to anyone regardless of military status, Pershing County residency, sex, race or religion. Join us for the dedication of the Memorial Wall for more information. 


Nominate a Frontier Days theme

The Lovelock Frontier Days Committee is holding a theme contest for the 2014 Frontier Days. Next year marks our 46th annual Frontier Days Celebration. What do you think our theme should be? Write it down with some ideas on how to implement the theme; submit it to the Pershing County Chamber of Commerce in the Lovelock Depot building or submit it on the Lovelock Frontier Days Facebook page by Nov. 4. The creator of the winning theme will ride on the Frontier Days Committee's parade float, get a t-shirt and hat with their theme on it and get tickets to the annual 4-H BBQ at Frontier Days. Pershing County Business Resource Center

The Pershing County Business Resource Center is now open. It is located at the Pershing County Community Center, Star Room, 820 6thStreet, Lovelock, NV 89419.  The center has 4 computers for free use by persons ages 17 and older for business, job, and educational purposes.  The Star Room is also used as a classroom, so a calendar of availability can be found at  Hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday - Friday.  Call 273-7144 for more information.

PGH needs volunteers

The Pershing General Hospital Nursing Home is in need of volunteers to spend time with nursing home residents, one on one visits and group activities. We also need donations of dollar store items for our Bingo Store. They win gold coins during bingo and bi monthly we set up a bingo store in the facility and let them shop. Church of the Good Shepherd Food Bank

The Church of the Good Shepherd Food Bank currently has donated food available for those in need. Pastor D.W. Hutson asks that you call ahead to pick up the items from the church, located at 16500 state Route 400 in Unionville. The church accepts food and clothing donations to give away to those in need. Fallon Naval Sea Cadets

Fallon Naval Sea Cadets is a non-profit youth program designed to educate youth from ages 11-17 about the Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard. Education includes military bearing, marching, physical training, courtesy, responsibility and much more. Many opportunities are available for advanced training. Meetings are one weekend a month at the Naval Air Station in Fallon. Volunteers, both ex-military and civilian, are needed for instructors and chaperones. For information on

Imlay Good Neighbor Nominations

The Imlay Auxiliary is now accepting nominations for the Good Neighbor awards. Have you been the recipient of a good deed or have you seen someone showing random acts of kindness? Nominate them for a Good Neighbor award. Awards will be presented at the Imlay Service Appreciation Ceremony to be held on Dec. 14 at 6 p.m. at the Imlay Community Center. Food bank

Lovelock Community Food Bank is serving at 655 Cornell starting at 3:30 p.m. and will close at the discretion of the Food Bank. Everyone can receive free bread and dairy products, but a voucher will be needed in order to receive food. This can be obtained at the county clerk's office.

Lovelock Speedway meeting

November - March, general meetings are held every other Thursday at 6 p.m. April - October general meetings held the Thursday prior to each scheduled race. Each Friday - Classes formally at Creekside Variety are now being held in the Community Center across from the hospital.
