  • Just reminiscing
    Saturday, December 03, 2016 1:00 AM
"Do you know who you are?”
There is a country song made famous by country singer Patty Loveless, titled “You don't even know who I am.” It’s a sad story about a failed marriage, and the wife is leaving after years of marriage and raising children. If you are a country music fan, you know the words to that sad song. Here are the words for you who have no clue about this song. It’s real life in motion, in real time, happening every day somewhere. And the kids are thinking, what did I do wrong? What could I have done to keep daddy and mama together? What’s going to happen to me? My heart’s breaking.
  • Transportation
    Saturday, December 03, 2016 1:00 AM
If you could walk up to a wall put your hand out flat on it, push and it would dissolve and fall away to reveal that you have been transported to a place of your dreams, where would you end up? A long white sand beach? Hike to the top of a mountain? A bubble bath? Paris? Think big- in this dream all expenses are paid! Even souvenirs are included…
  • Ownership Verification Cards
    Saturday, December 03, 2016 1:00 AM
What is this “Owner Occupancy Verification Card” I got in the mail and why do I need to fill it out? If you own a home and especially, if you have recently purchased a home, you should have received an Owner Occupancy Verification card in the mail. Chances are, if you did not know what that was for, you tossed it in the trash. However, you are likely costing yourself more money every year in property taxes if you did not get that card back to us. That little card entitles you to a property tax abatement on your primary residence. Here is how it works:
  • Be thankful for Trump’s presidency
    Friday, December 02, 2016 1:00 AM
Thanksgiving may officially be over, but Americans have much to be thankful for.
To my liberal and Democratic Party friends (not always one and the same), please enjoy the freedom you have to protest and fear the unknown that is President-elect Trump.
  • Prepaying farm expenses as a tax planning tool
    Friday, December 02, 2016 1:00 AM
Farmers typically pay for seed, fertilizer, and other inputs in one year and use the items in the subsequent year. There are many reasons to do so, such as: obtaining a lower purchase price, guarantee the availability of the particular item, and of course for tax planning purposes. Typically larger farmers can spend tens of thousands of dollars on year-end prepaid expenses in order to adjust taxable income to a desired level; therefore, it is extremely important that farmers adhere to the IRS rules regarding prepaid expenses.
  • All hail our new Caesar
    Friday, December 02, 2016 1:00 AM
Some say the war is over. The two year media created controversy of who should be our next emperor that is. Sure there has been widespread division and polarization, but isn't that just all part of the game to make it seem that we really have a choice? "It’s us against them. We are the cool ones. We know where it’s at. We are the good guys and they are a bunch of stupid monkeys!"... We never learn. We fall for it every time.
  • Thanksgiving – A Time for Reflection
    Tuesday, November 29, 2016 1:00 AM
The month of November provides a unique opportunity to celebrate two important holidays: Veterans Day and Thanksgiving. In many ways, I find it no coincidence that these two days of reflection occur in the same month. As we reflect on all that we are fortunate to have, and all that we are thankful for, the men and women who serve our community and nation are at the forefront of our minds.
  • Picking your seat
    Friday, November 25, 2016 1:00 AM
Do families still have a kids table and a grown-ups table set for Thanksgiving? I hope so. That rite of passage of moving up from the little to the big table is something that should be felt by as many youngsters as possible.

    Wednesday, November 23, 2016 1:00 AM
With the holiday season upon us, many will be enjoying their holiday meals by serving turkey as the main course. Therefore, I would like to share some facts about turkey production in the United States.
  • Bomb Pershing County?
    Friday, November 18, 2016 1:00 AM
It has got to be more than just my opinion. It appear to me that events are becoming more strange and bizarre as time goes on.
