BATTLE MOUNTAIN - September was a busy month for Christ Lutheran Preschool staff and families. The week of Sept. 2 saw 53 students begin Christ Lutheran Preschool's 12th year.

On Sept. 5, Shar Peterson and Chase Ruff, of Newmont Mining Corp., presented a check for $17,200, which represents the 2013 donation to the preschool from Newmont employees and the match from NMC Legacy Fund.

On Sept. 20 and 21, it held a fall yard sale. With record yard and bake sale donations, and lots of shoppers, the proceeds came to $1,969.

Due to a generous community, the fundraisers and the Newmont Legacy Fund, tuition rates have remained the same for several years and have provided 23 percent of the school's current enrollment with tuition assistance grants.

The final special event of the month was an open house hosted by Christ Lutheran Church for preschool families on Sept. 23. Families toured the classrooms, viewed their children's artwork, and enjoyed a picnic dinner on our new patio.

September was a fun and rewarding opening to Christ Lutheran Preschool's 12th year.
