The Imlay Town Board held its first Christmas light contest this year. The contest was open to residents in Imlay, Mill City, Buena Vista Valley and Unionville; however, only eight entries were received from within the town of Imlay, Imlay Town Board member Brenda Pinkston said. Entries were judged on creativity, effort and the reason for the season. Judges for the contest were Pershing County Justice of the Peace Karen Stephens, Karen Beatty-Lee and Virgil Pinkston. First prize was $100 in cash that went to Alta Mae Dela Vega, who had multiple Christmas scenes on her corner lot in Imlay. Second place prize was 15 bags of stove pellets that went to Joe and Jamie St. Pierre for their light display and manger scene. Third place of dinner for two at Star Point Trading Post went to Robert and Jeanie Montes, who had blow-up displays and many lights.
