Jeannette McAbee Ugaldea, 100, of Winnemucca, Nevada, passed away in Spokane, Washington, on July 29, 2019.

She was born to James V. McAbee and Marguerite O. Allgood, on May 17, 1919 in Phoenix, Oregon.

Jeannette met Charles Ugaldea in Paradise Valley, 1938. They were married on November 6, 1940 in Carson City, Nevada.

Through 60 years of marriage, Jeannette and Charlie were always in love.  Together they raised 2 children, Cheryl and Tim.

Jeannette held many jobs during her working years and retired from the Winnemucca Office of the Bureau of Land Management in 1984.  She was proud to work outside the home.

At retirement Jeannette took up golf and she and Charlie played almost every day. After the death of Charlie, she continued to golf and could be seen each morning riding her cart to the course.

Jeannette’s family looked forward to her and Charlie’s frequent visits during holidays and vacations. Grammy Nette’s laugh reverberates through the memories of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In 2011 she moved to Spokane, Washington.  Independent for all but her childhood, Jeannette fought the effects of age with the help of her son.

When confronted with setbacks in her final years, Jeannette always said with a smile, “it’s better than the alternative.”

Jeannette was preceded in death by the love of her life, Charlie, and her beloved daughter Cheryl.

She is survived by her son Tim (Kathy) Ugaldea, grandchildren Katy (Dan) Delaney, Tim (Julie) Semple, Matt (Shay) Ugaldea, Ben (Holli) Ugaldea and great grandchildren Gus, Lucy, May, Ash and Bea.

Jeannette’s life-story can’t be summarized and won’t be forgotten in death.

Through 100 years of joy, hardship, and change, she lived with strength, grit, dignity and love.

Jeannette’s family and friends marvel at the woman she was.
