Mike Callahan (71) gave up a good fight with all the pain he was living in for years on May 2, 2019. 

He was born in Indianapolis, Indiana to Harrold and Lucille Callahan then 12 years later Mary Dodson became his stepmom. 

He was with the first class that was in the new Lowry High School graduation in 1968. In the late 60’s he worked after school as a cook’s helper at Joe Mackie’s Star Broiler. Then he worked at the 76th Truck Stop when it was built. 

In the 70s and 80s he moved to Reno and worked at the new MGM Grand/Bailey’s as a cook’s helper in the Italian Restaurant. When his health became more painful for the heavy work, he went to work at Reno’s new Port of Subs.

 In 2001, he moved to Fernley and worked at their new McDonalds, when he could not work anymore his sister and family moved Mike back to Winnemucca where he lived his last 12 years at Harmony Manor. 

He loved crocheting and making plastic canvas items. Mike was happy to receive many ribbons from Humboldt County Fair each year.

Mike is survived by his sister, Patty (Wayne) Jones of Winnemucca, one brother, Jim Callahan of Winnemucca. Three nephews, Mike Jones of Winnemucca, Shamus Callahan of Winnemucca and Sean Callahan of Elko, NV. 

Two nieces Lisa Hinen of Winnemucca and Susanne Skwara of Winnemucca. Ten Great nephews and nieces. Seven great great nephews and nieces. Mike was never married. 

Mike is preceded in death by his father, Harrold and mother, Lucille, stepmom, Mary and one sister-in-law, Claudia Callahan. 

The family would love to thank all the people at Harmony Manor for the love and care they all gave Mike. 

His last week he had special care by Dr. Grant, Dr. Westling, nurses; Corey Plumb RN, Heather Beach RN, and Jacqueline Dalley RN/RCC. Jennifer Solovernick (social service), CNAs; Janie Garringer, Yesenia Montalvo, Nathalie Wilson, and Niki Linn at Humboldt County Human Services. 

Per Mike’s wishes there will be no service.
