Michael Wayne Turner
Michael Turner, 64, of Valmy, Nevada passed away unexpectedly at his home of natural causes on March 18, 2020.

He was born in Cottage Grove, Oregon on August 25, 1955 to parents Nathan “Red” and Barbara (Hughes) Turner.  Mike attended school in Scotts Valley, Yoncalla, Elkton, Terrebonne, and Redmond, Oregon.

Mike married Marilyn (Atkinson) on December 24, 1974.

Their first daughter, Tonya, was only with them a short time here on Earth. Their second daughter, Fawna, was born in 1978, and was his pride and joy.

He married Kathy (Moore) in 1985 and gained two more daughters, Wendy and Heather.  He helped raise them and even though the marriage didn’t last, his relationship with Wendy and Heather did.

Mike had great work ethic and was employed by a variety of companies throughout the years, including Cascade Pumice and Consolidated Towing in Bend, and most recently at Marigold Mines in Valmy, Nevada, where he worked for more than 10 years.

He cherished his time with Fawna and her family and was preparing to retire in August and move to Washington to be near them.

Mike loved his dog Sugar, she went everywhere with him except for work.  We thought his heart may break the day Sugar wasn’t there when he returned home after work.

The next day was a happy reunion when she came home. He made sure that Sugar would never escape again!

He also loved antique cars and pick-ups, riding his motorcycle, playing the guitar, fishing, visiting Central Oregon, and enjoying a good meal especially when it was followed by strawberry shortcake.

He loved playing Continental Rummy, a game that has been in the family for generations.  Above all else though, Mike loved spending time with family and friends.

He had a contagious smile, a goofy sense of humor and there was never a dull moment with him around!

Mike was a Christian and his family has peace knowing that he is in Heaven with Jesus. The family believes there was a great celebration when Mike reached Heaven with all his family who had passed before him.

He was preceded in death by his father Nathan Turner, brothers Clint Turner and Tom McKirdy, daughter Tonya, stepfather Keith McKirdy, and mother Barbara McKirdy, along with grandparents and great grandmother.

Mike is survived by his daughter Fawna (Josh) White, grandsons Foster (Kaylee) and Landon and granddaughter Layla, and one great grandson Everhett all of Graham, WA; step-daughter Wendy Skala (Dave), and granddaughters Ashley (Kasey) Hailee and Karlie; step-daughter Heather (Dennis) Durr, and grandsons Austin (Arie), Gunnar (Alyssa), and Justin, and great granddaughters Harper, Aspen and Kenzie all from Oregon.  Also, his sister Jennette (Mike) Layng of Clancy, MT, sister Linda Elliott of Hershey, NE, brother Keith (Connie) McKirdy of Battle Mountain, NV; step-sister Suzie (Mark) Peterson of Jacksonville, OR, step-brother Kelly (Brooke) McKirdy of Seaside, OR, step-sister Mary Meadows of Toledo, OR, and step-sister Donna (Leo) Rood of Snohomish, WA.

Mike was also blessed with many nieces and nephews that he loved and teased and who loved him back.

The family plans to have a celebration of life for Mike this summer in Central Oregon.  Details will be provided at a later date.
