Robert Preston Hausler passed away on March 3, 2020 at his home in Golconda, Nevada at the age of 84. 

Robert was born on January 8, 1936 in Oakland, California to Edward Henry Hausler and Althea Laree Preston Hausler. Robert grew up in Oakland, California with his 3 brothers: Donald, William, and John.

Robert graduated from Oakland Technical High School in 1954. 

He worked as a Dredge ship hand, then as a service station attendant for Chevron, then as a truck driver.

He had an entrepreneurial spirit. He had a laundry, thrift store, he cut and sold firewood, and he pumped septic tanks. He bought and sold cars, loved trains, especially steam trains. 

Robert lived in Oakland, California until the 1970’s when he moved to Nevada. He spent time living in Reno, Fernley and finally Golconda, NV on his beloved Teddy Bear Ranch; named after his favorite dog. 

He rescued dogs, cats and just about any other animal that was in need.

He ended up with 10 dogs, his little children. He had a lifetime joy of exploring ghost towns with his close friends. 

He is preceded in death by his wife Kathy Henn Hausler, his parents; Edward and Althea, Grandparents; Lee Preston, Amy Preston, Rose O’Brien Hausler and Albert Hausler. His sister Barbara Harmon and stepdaughter Melinda Urublo- Hausler. 

Robert is survived by his son James Hausler, Brothers; Donald Hausler, William Hausler and John Hausler, as well as family members; Justin Hausler and Scott Harmon. 

As well as many well-loved dogs, cats and other animals. 

The Hausler family asks that in lieu of flowers a donation may be made to the World Wildlife Fund in honor of Robert’s love for animals and his natural love to help and care for them. 

The Hausler family would like to extend a huge thank you to Matt Deleon for being a great friend and care giver to Robert throughout the years.
