The Nevada High School Rodeo Association made a stop in southern Nevada in Alamo on Oct. 29-30.

Humboldt County’s Billy DeLong and Cooper Hill were first and second, respectively, in the boys cutting average. DeLong won both performances of the vent to earn 144 points. Hill was two points back with 142.

In addition, DeLong claimed the top spot in saddle bronc, as he was the only cowboy with a qualified ride. He had two complete rides with 59 and 62 points. 

DeLong was third in steer wrestling, which included a win in the second performance with a time of 5.35 seconds. He did not have a time in the first performance.

DeLong placed ninth in the tie-down roping average, after not having a time in the first performance. 

He came back in the second performance to place fifth with a time of 16.180. DeLong and partner Cole English from Douglas/Carson were fifth in team roping after two top-10 performances.

Humboldt County’s Brynn Barto placed fifth in the barrel racing average at 37.743 and she was fourth in the second performance with a time of 18.731. Barto added a 12th-place finish in goat tying and was 22nd in breakaway roping.

Emma Garijo finished sixth in pole bending, which included winning the first performance with a time of 21.068. She did not have a time in the second performance. 

Garijo was ninth in breakaway roping and 11th in barrel racing.

Matti DeLong earned a top-10 finish in breakaway roping, placing eighth in the average. 

She missed her calf in the first performance, but was third in the second performance with a time of 3.01. She was sixth in girls cutting with 136 points, including a third-place outing in the opening performance with 70 points.

DeLong finished 14th in barrel racing, 22nd in pole bending a 30th in goat tying.

Shailee Robison competed for Humboldt County in barrel racing, goat tying and pole bending.

Battle Mountain’s Italy Jo Holman swept both performance of barrel racing to win the average. She had times of 18.246 and 18.229. She tied for first in the average in girls cutting with Moapa’s Rilee Christensen, each with 143 points. Holman won the first performance with 72 points.

Holman was seventh in pole bending, after placing second in the first performance with a time of 21.648. She did not have a time in the second performance. 

Battle Mountain’s Desi Coombs swept both performances of breakaway roping to win the average at 5.25. She had times of 2.85 and 2.40. Coombs was 12th in barrel racing and 27th in pole bending.

Amelia Lancaster was seventh in breakaway roping, 10th in girls cutting, 10th in pole bending and 17th in barrel racing. Jolena Ayers placed 11th in goat tying, 14th in pole bending and 30th in barrel racing. 

Battle Mountain Eli Lancaster placed third in the boys cutting average with performances of 70 and 71.5 points.  

Lancaster was sixth in steer wrestling, which included a third-place outing in the first performance with a time of 9.45. He was 10th in the tie-down roping average and second in the trap shoot.



Junior High Results

Battle Mountain’s Landry Meiman was fifth in the barrel racing average and Humboldt County’s Taylor Hill and Louise DeLong were sixth and 12th, respectively in barrel racing.

Battle Mountain’s Logan Lancaster placed ninth in boys breakaway roping and Humboldt County’s Lane Byrd and Bryce Fears were second and sixth in boys gait tying. 

Logan Marshall and Fears placed fifth and seventh, respectively, in chute dogging and Huntley Byrd placed sixth in girls breakaway and DeLong was 15th.

Battle Mountain’s Jorja Mashburn placed seventh in goat tying, Meiman was ninth and Humboldt County’s Taylor Hill placed 11th.

Huntley Byrd won the pole bending, sweeping the top spot in both performances, while DeLong was fifth and Mashburn 12th. Lane Byrd and Mashburn were third in ribbon roping, as the duo won the second performance with a time of 9.06. Louise DeLong and Henry Buchanan of Eureka were sixth, Huntley Byrd and Frank Buchanan of Eureka were seventh and Taylor Hill and Quil Flippini were eight.

Humboldt County’s Hazen Root won the rifle shoot and Logan Marshall finished second in tie-down roping.

The fall season concludes this weekend in Moapa. The spring season for the association begins Feb. 17-19 in Pahrump.

  

   

Elko High School results

In Elko on Oct. 8-9, Emma Garijo placed third in barrel racing, Coombs was fourth and Matti DeLong, Natalie Mori and Brynn Barto were seventh, eighth and ninth.

Billy DeLong and Cooper Hill were second and fifth, respectively in boys cutting, while Eli Lancaster placed eighth. Desi Coombs took home the top spot in breakaway roping, Garijo was ninth and Matti DeLong and Kalyleigh Marshall 14th and 15th.

Italy Jo Holman was second in girls cutting, Ashley Rookstool, fourth, Natalie Mori sixth, Amelia Lancaster seventh and Matti DeLong ninth. Matti DeLong placed 11th in goat tying, Jolena Ayers was 14th and Italy jo Holman placed seventh in pole bending, Matti Delong was 10th, Desi Coombs 12th and Amelia Lancaster 15th.

Natalie Mori claimed the top spot in reined cow horse and Matti DeLong was seventh in the event.

Billy Delong and Eli Lancaster placed second and fifth in steer wrestling and Eli Lancaster and Cooper Hill were 11th and 12th in tie-down roping.
